The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program is a joint initiative between the Government of Canada and the four Atlantic provinces: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, and Prince Edward Island.
This pathway is designed for skilled workers and recent graduates from publicly funded institutions in Atlantic Canada who wish to live, work, and settle in the region. Applicants can either be outside Canada or already in the country on a temporary status.
Employer-Driven Immigration Pathway
Unlike many other immigration programs, AIPP is employer-focused, meaning candidates must secure a valid job offer from an approved Atlantic employer. Each applicant is also required to have a personalized settlement plan for themselves and their family members.
When a designated employer identifies a suitable candidate, they will extend a job offer and connect the applicant with a recognized settlement service organization. This organization assesses the newcomer’s needs and prepares a settlement plan to ensure smooth integration. Employers are also expected to assist new hires and their families with long-term settlement in the community.
How the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Works
- A valid job offer from a designated Atlantic employer
- An endorsement letter from the province
- A commitment to apply for permanent residency within 90 days of submitting the temporary work permit application
